I’m Lori - founder and planner behind Lori Mari Events

Fun Fact: Mari is my middle name (pronounced just like Marie)

I have a deep love for coffee, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc after a long day, sunshine, and all things sweet. I firmly believe that an evening of heartfelt conversation with friends can fix just about anything. Additionally, I’m a hugger, so please don't be taken aback if I spontaneously go for one.

In 2008, I embarked on my first significant role as a banquet server at a prestigious conference center. Each weekend, we orchestrated multiple weddings, complete with pleated skirting, fan-folded napkins, and elaborate ice sculpture hors d’oeuvres for every occasion. The experience was exhilarating, and I often found myself dreaming of orchestrating such events myself. Since then, I have expanded my experience by working with various event venues and caterers, while also planning weddings for friends and family on the side. This has allowed me to collaborate with some of the most esteemed vendors in West Michigan, and it is a true privilege to share their exceptional work with my couples.

By 2019, as I embarked on my own wedding planning journey, I found myself faced with the challenges posed by Coronavirus restrictions. This involved postponing our initial celebration and subsequently organizing a second wedding and reception. The process was mentally and emotionally taxing. Despite my luck in retaining all my cherished vendors, I watched as others were not as fortunate. With the surge in weddings and a limited number of vendors to accommodate them, it became clear to me how deeply I wished to share my industry knowledge with other couples. This realization laid the foundation for the creation of Lori Mari Events.

My deepest passion for weddings resides in the realm of logistics. While I certainly enjoy designing aesthetically pleasing floor plans, floral arrangements, and décor, my true expertise lies in coordinating all the moving parts. I thrive on the behind-the-scenes work, finding satisfaction in orchestrating events that unfold effortlessly, ensuring that guests remain continuously engaged and entertained.
